Workflows and Processes

Based on the experience gained by INTECSEA, an IMS methodology has been developed which suits most projects including both internal and external interface management. The interface workflows are the processes associated with identifying an interface and its components, the interfacing parties involved and the deliverables and tasks required by the parties to close out an interface.

The overall interface management process consists of the following:

  • Interface planning
  • Interface identification
  • Interface assessment
  • Interface monitoring and control
  • Interface close-out

In addition to the IMS, INTECSEA has developed a robust relational database Interface Management Tool (IM Tool) to improve inter-disciplinary communication and interfacing between the interface parties.  Working along the lines of a schedule tool, it stores and manages all project interface information relating to components tasks, documents, attributes and interface responsibilities, as well as their pertinent interface links and key dates.
